Welcome

Maybe you landed here intentionally. Perhaps you were Googling another Jeff Salyards and ended up here by mistake. Though why you would do that, I’m not entirely sure. Either way, I’m glad you made it! Welcome to my hidey hole. Take a look around, make yourself at home.

Bio

Growing up, I wanted to be a jewel thief, a stuntman, or a writer. At some point I conceded I’m too clumsy to really pull off the first two, but I’m still cranking away at making the third a reality. Learn more

Works

I never imagined I would be prolific. And lo and behold, I’m not! But I have written a dark fantasy trilogy and contributed to some fantasy anthologies. So I have that going for me. Which is nice. Learn more

Blog

My exceptional yammering abilities are only eclipsed by my preternatural procrastination skills. The blog blends both and serves them to you in a frosted mug with salt on the rim. Enjoy! Learn more

Press

On the fence and not sure if you want to pony up to buy one of my books? Or maybe you are a glutton for punishment and want to read my interviews or listen to podcasts? This is your lucky day—you’ll find both here. Learn more

Contact

You were just thinking, Salyards seems like a decent enough sort. For a writer. Maybe I’d like to reach out to him. Maybe.

Outstanding!

“Since it’s on the front cover it’s no spoiler to say that Captain Braylar gets to fight a Deserter, an eyeless giant. This aspect of the book is fascinating and the conflict really helps raise the stakes and creates real tension.”

—Mark Lawrence, author of The Red Queen’s War and The Broken Empire

Couldn’t put it down

“[Scourge of the Betrayer] is a very fast, very engaging read with an astonishingly deft touch of detail, and a backdrop of ordinary people and a thoroughly fleshed out setting. There is a major female character right up there, with splendid opinions and real agency, in high form alongside the raunchy language and humor.”

Awesome read!

"When I finished Veil of the Deserters, I declared loudly on Goodreads, 'Damn that was good!', going on to describe it as 'one of the best fantasy novels I've red in quite a while.' And after a few weeks to mull over my initial reaction, not only do I stand by those words but confidently anoint this book the best fantasy I've read this year."

Chains of the Heretic

“With Chains of the Heretic, Jeff Salyards presents an engrossing tale of a military company forced to flee their homes. When the Jackals of Sunwrack decide to cross the Godveil to escape decimation, they enter into a fantastic and deadly new world. Its an act that redefines them as soldiers, and one which has serious consequences for the Syldoon Empire. This is a journey of survival and personal ambition you don’t want to miss.”
